My name is Scott Battye (also known as Scav3nger in some circles), I'm currently 23 years old and I currently reside in Melbourne, Australia.
From 2008 to 2010 I studied at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) University, completing my Bachelor of Arts (Games Graphics Design) in 2010 and graduating in 2011. There's lots of valuable things I learnt in my time there, and lots of great people I completed the course with who I hope to work with again in the future.
Although I take a greater interest in interface and story/narrative design, I have undertaken a plethora of tasks revolving around game design and development rather than focusing too much on one thing. These have included level design, animation, music, sound effects, 3D modelling, concept art, programming and of course, heads up display, menu, and interface design. Interface and HUD design, along with website design and development are still among my strongest suites.
I've been a Science Fiction nut from an early age, not all forms but there's a vast majority that I generally enjoy watching, playing and/or reading. Much of my inspiration comes from movies, television series and games, with many Sci-Fi books also providing their fair share of inspiration.
For a short time I was a co-presenter on a podcast called the Screwed Gamers Podcast, recording ten episodes via Skype with fellow XboxLIVE gamers I had met along the journey. External commitments for the entire team put the show on ice and at this stage looks unlikely to return, but it was a good experience.
Lately I've been doing a lot of work helping the Regional Gamers League after becoming a member of their community back in 2012. It started out with assisting with the conversion of the website from a static HTML development to Wordpress powered website, but has also progressed to refreshing and updating the league's Twitch.tv stream interface, and redesigning the interface for the RGL Forza Motorsport Championships, which have unfortunately come to an end as of the conclusion of the 2013 season (I knew I'd regret not winning that Mazda Masters race). Samples of each can be found under RGL on the projects page.
So that's a little bit about me, thanks for reading, hope you like my website!
